I was at a wedding this weekend. And as usual the garden that it was in was decorated beautifully. As I watched in anticipation for the bride to walk down the Aile I got distracted by the extremely large tattoos on all of the brides maids arms and backs. This just looked extremely trashy to me with tattoos sticking out and over powering the dress that they were wearing. I realize and respect the art that is involved in the art of tattoos but I could not take my eyes off of it. Even after the bride had walked down the Aile I was distracted. Part of the reason it bothered me so much is because my father leaned over next to me and said something about it. I didn't notice it before.
After the ceremony it was brought up by one of my aunts who is extremely liberal. She was disgusted by them. Is there just a stigma that the older generation holds about tattoos or is it really just a sign of the low class. I often find myself stunned by the ink people are wearing now. Some of it being beautiful designs and some of it being extremely trashy. How can someone know which one they have. I do think if you do have something so important you should be proud of the design and show it off. But there is a time and a place.
People need to learn how to cover it up for situations that call for special events that need a little more formal look. One solution would be to get a tattoo in a place wear it is easy to cover up with many different outfits. They don't go with every look people need to understand that. The only times it goes is if you are going for that ruff around the edges artsy person or a rugged hard type of person. Any other time it is not appropriate. Unless going casual then its up in the air.
